The basic idea for this team is to develop a project which allows the customers to have their own individual design. The creation aspect of the project has met the freedom of creativity in this time. Throughout the world there are many more company are willing to provide the environment for customers to publish their own individual design into products. To create this category of link relationship between customers, the project team has to construct a particular form of develop process to allow the customers to create their own product.
This project is create by Fluidforms Team, in this project the team has came up with a fascinating idea. Their customers are being transformed into sculptor; they name it as “Communicate with fists”.
The team has announced their project at Salone Satllite in 2006, every visitors would have a chance to test the outcome of the project. To test the project the visitors will have to use a pair of boxing gloves and use it on a punching bag, just like exercising. The boxing gloves will hit the sensors inside the punching bag. The punches will transfer to a computer it will create a 3D printed lamp shape according to the positions and impact of the punches. To assist the user to identify the creation of sculptor’s personal vision, they show it onto a wall. The user can either try to create the shape they wanted or hit the punching bag until they run out of energy. It is interesting that for most users who first in touch with this project, they would have not clearly understand what the shape would look like with the power of their punches. It would be difficult for some users easily create a shape they want. However creation is never about scheduled outcome, the users would be surprised with the creation of their negligent fights.
The creator William also stated "Personal taste is simply that, it’s personal so we’ve been finding stimulating, fun ways of putting the customer in the sculptors seat,” The freedom of creation is never to be limited.
I have also reached their website to find out more information about the project. It is interesting that I found a demo online. It is to allow the visitors to their website, they have also had an online demonstrate shockwave application to allow the visitors to try the outcome without having access to the physical components.
